✏️From The Author
Tomorrow is the final day of E3. Highlights for me, at least so far, were: The Devolver conference - It was their usual brand of odd humor and I always enjoy it. The indie titles - There were some fun titles announced that I’m looking forward to playing. I even included some in the last newsletter for you to look at! Outer Worlds 2 - The trailer was just fantastic. It’s exactly what makes a trailer memorable, without actually telling you a single thing about the game - that’s skill right there.
Until next time,
Brandon
🎮 E3 News
Monday’s E3 show brought us some Capcom reveals and more indie titles. See below for the Capcom conference and indie titles will be towards the bottom of the newsletter!
Capcom
Resident Evil Village DLC - Capcom announced it is working on additional DLC for Village due to popular demand. We don’t have any timeframes or info beyond the fact a DLC is now starting development. With it just now starting development it’ll probably be a bit of time before we see anything.
Resident Evil Re:Verse - A multiplayer mode is coming to Resident Evil Village. The free mode will be a 6v6 deathmatch where you can play as some iconic Resident Evil characters. It is slated to drop some time next month.
The Great Ace Attorney - The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles will include the Great Ace Attorney Adventures and Great Ace Attorney Resolve games. These two titles were previously only released in Japan. The game will be available July 17, 2021 for Switch, PS4 and Steam.
Monster Hunter Rise Update - Monster Hunter Rise will be receiving its 3.1 update which will include new event quests and rewards. The update rolls out on June 24, 2021.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin - Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a spinoff title for the series and a sequel to Monster Hunter Stories. The game is slated for release on July 9, 2021 for Steam and Switch.
As you can see, it was a pretty quiet event. We’re at a point where there’s a lot of games to juggle in your mind from E3 alone. If you’re looking for a place that brings all the titles together in a concise order, I’d recommend you check out this site!

NPD May 2021 Report
Written by: Adrian Briski
Mat Piscatella provided the monthly NPD report, which tracks video game sales in the United States.
May 2021 wasn’t as lively as others have been in the year so far. The Nintendo Switch continues to be the best selling hardware in the industry. Unsurprisingly, Resident Evil: Village was the best selling game of the month, and the second best selling game of the year so far (behind Call of Duty). The #2 spot was held by Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.
The only other interesting note was that Days Gone had a massive boost from a previous ranking of #247 up to #21 thanks to its release on Steam. Considering the other games that made the top 20, that’s a pretty good spot to be in.
Niantic Working on Transformers Mobile Title
Niantic (Pokémon Go) has announced its involvement in another new mobile AR game project - Transformers: Heavy Metal. While the title itself is being developed by Very Very Spaceship, it will utilize Niantic’s AR platform.
Not too much is known about the title, but screenshots suggest that it should be in a similar vein of gameplay to Pokémon Go, but with the Transformers franchise. There is currently no release date.
Sam Barlow Drops Trailer for New Game: Immortality
Sam Barlow (Telling Lies, Her Story) has released a teaser trailer for Immortality. Little is known about the game, as the teaser didn’t divulge too much.
The game will center around a fictional actress, Marissa Marcel, and her mysterious disappearance. The game is slated to release in 2022 on Steam.
Brandon’s Thoughts: Her Story was a trippy and cool game, so I expect Barlow will deliver the same unique narrative that seems to be his MO. Definitely something to watch out for if you’re into stories with a twist.
More Details Release on Elden Ring
Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of Dark Souls, has released more info on Elden Ring in an interview with IGN.
In the interview Miyazaki discusses more of the lore of the world and what gameplay will be like for players. Specifically, it seems they’re going for a more open and varied route of combat by allowing the combining of different weapons with different skills. He emphasized that the player will have a lot more freedom of movement, and will have multiple endings. Miyazaki also covers the contribution from George R.R. Martin for bringing “…rich storytelling and a sense of character and drama [to the game]”. More specifically, Martin was tasked with writing the lore and the main six bosses of the game.
If you’re a fan of Souls games or more interested in Elden Ring itself, I would recommend you check out the full IGN interview.
