TGO Daily | September 8, 2020 | Streets of Rage 4 Gets 1.5 Million Downloads
There are some days, especially holidays like today, where there just isn’t any hard-hitting top-tier news. I usually take this as a puzzle or challenge to figure out what stories are the most important to my audience. I hope I succeeded in that today.

Streets of Rage 4 still being supported, gets 1.5 million downloads
5 months after its initial release, Streets of Rage 4 has been downloaded 1.5 million times, and will be receiving its first major update. Considering it is a revival of a genre that has not seen mainstream attention for decades, I’m sure the publishers are happy with those numbers.
In regards to the patch, there will be a number of updates, bug fixes, and balance changes, which were tested by the community.
“a lot of the updates in the patch enhance the replay value for folks who have been with us from the start…Additional updates are currently in production and we’ll have more to share on that soon.”
— Cyrille Imbert, Executive Producer for Streets of Rage 4
If you were a fan of the arcade beat-em-ups, you should definitely check out this one. It reviewed incredibly well, and evidently the company intends to support it in the long term.
No microtransactions in single-player Cyberpunk 2077
There was a lot of confusion today concerning the status of microtransactions in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077.
As it stands, according to CD Projekt, the single-player version of the game will be very similar to The Witcher 3. No microtransactions, free minor DLCs, and paid Witcher-length expansions (the exact details of these will probably be unveiled soon). Their statements even spawned an oft-quoted meme:
Microtransactions? In a single player role playing game? Are you nuts?
Something that you might not know is that the developers are planning to create a completely separate title in the Cyberpunk universe, which will be a multiplayer game. They have said that the soonest expectation for it to arrive will be in 2022. In an earnings report today, the CD Projekt Red president mentioned that this game will indeed have microtransactions.
After saying that, some people thought that the plan was to bring microtransactions to the single-player experience. They have since clarified that this is not the case:
Minecraft headed to PSVR later this month

Virtual reality has been an option for some Minecraft players ever since 2016, but there have been limited platforms that official versions were available on. Playstation 4, with their PSVR headsets, were not one of those versions.
Having only joined the cross-play party in late 2019, Sony has been hesitant to work with their competitors in this capacity (with Minecraft being owned by Microsoft and all). Well later this month, another barrier will be broken, with official VR support heading to the console.
“PSVR support has actually been a planned PS4 feature since we got the thumbs-up from Sony to bring cross-platform play and the Bedrock version to PS4”
Horizon Zero Dawn gets latest patch
When Horizon Zero Dawn launched for the first time on PC, there were a lot of eyeballs on it. It’s the first major PS4 exclusive to be available to PC players, and it got a lot of positive critical reception on its initial release. Unfortunately, many people had technical issues with the game.
For what its worth, the developers seem committed to fixing those issues. The latest patch has now been released, version 1.04, which fixes a host of performance problems. It looks like there are still some known issues, so if you were planning on purchasing it, perhaps hold off for now. Otherwise, feel free to check it out on Steam.
