TGO Daily | October 9, 2020 | Mortal Kombat & Abzu
Today was a slow day for news, so here’s an anecdote for you. Maybe you can empathize?
This evening, I was on my way to completing the first ending for Nier: Automata. Suddenly I realized that I had a work meeting in 15 minutes! Oh no! I paused the game and rushed to my desk to prepare.
When I returned, I unpaused the game, only to find out that there was about 2 minutes left in the final cutscene. I was antsy through my whole meeting for nothing! That’s what I get for misjudging how much time I had.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I might push out a special edition of the newsletter one of the days, but no promises.
Until next time,
Adrian
Mortal Kombat 11
Mortal Kombat 11 is going to be adding three new characters to its roster as part of Kombat Pack 2: Mileena, Rain, and Rambo.
Mileena is returning to the game after not being included in the base package — a common talking point in the community. Rain is also a returnee, though isn’t considered a staple. He was last seen in the 2011 reboot.
Most interestingly, Rambo is joining the roster:
Playing as Rambo is like time-traveling back with Kronika to 1982. Our character artists have perfectly captured Rambo’s look from “First Blood.” They, along with our design and cinematics teams, drew great inspiration from that film, as well the subsequent sequels. Of course, having Sylvester Stallone voice one of his most iconic characters is an absolute thrill.
Existing owners can pick this up as part of Kombat Pack 2. Otherwise, the characters are being introduced as part of the Ultimate Edition of the game, which has all the details in the image above.
Abzu
Abzû is currently free on the Epic Games Store. If you’ve never seen it, it’s less a game and more an underwater experience. You play as a diver exploring the ocean — very low pressure, but plenty to do.
It’s absolutely beautiful, and very short. If you just want to see some cool graphics, you’re able to finish it in one sitting. You can also collect a bunch of stuff if you want, which will pad out the game time.
Nonetheless, feel free to pick it up, alongside Rising Storm 2: Vietnam.
