TGO Daily | October 22, 2020 | AOC Streams to 400k
Today’s newsletter is a collection of shorter stories, rather than the usual 3 in-depth ones. As you can see in the thumbnail, one of those stories includes Darkest Dungeon 2. That’s a game that I’m very much looking forward to, but will probably never play. The first game was fantastic, but incredibly difficult, to the point of losing me. I have a huge appreciation for what it is though, and you might want to check it out if you haven’t already :)
Until tomorrow,
Adrian

AOC Streams on Twitch
Source: gamesindustry.biz
United States Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez streamed for the first time on Twitch yesterday to 439,000 peak concurrent viewers. That instantly put her high on the leaderboard of peak concurrents for an individual streamer — the record is currently held by Ninja at 600,000 when he streamed with rapper Drake.
The stream consisted of her playing the game Among Us with some of the most high-profile streamers in the world. While she did take time to talk about the upcoming US elections, it was largely a wholesome stream of people having fun with the game.

Devolver Digital Acquire Croteam
Croatian studio Croteam has just been acquired by Devolver Digital, their long-time publisher of their games. You’ll recognize Croteam as the developers of the Serious Sam franchise, and The Talos Principle. Serious Sam 4 released last month to mixed reviews.
…our future together is ultra exciting with new projects like The Talos Principle 2, more Serious Sam games, and original IP from Croteam and the Croteam Incubator studios. Croteam will of course keep total creative freedom and Devolver Digital gets to keep making dumb recommendations that Croteam just ignores - we prefer it that way.
Darkest Dungeon 2 Trailer Drops
Darkest Dungeon 2 is now using 3D models for their characters. Somehow they managed to perfectly capture the familiar art style without sacrificing any of the quality from the first game. It looks cool. It’s probably going to remain a 2D experience, but making the world in 3D will give them a lot more to work with. The Ori games did something similar.
The game will be launching into early access on the Epic Games Store some time in 2021.
Uplay Becomes Ubisoft Connect
Uplay is no more, and Ubisoft Connect is taking its place. It’s essentially the same service, however Ubisoft is also introducing cross-progression between select PC and console games. Titles like Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Immortals: Fenyx Rising can be picked up and dropped depending on where you want to play it. They’re also trying to bring cross-play to most Ubisoft games that have multiplayer. The change will happen on October 29th.
Fortnite Gets Smaller
Source: Rock Paper Shotgun
We talked recently about Call of Duty trying to shorten its storage footprint — looks like Fortnite is doing the same. As they kick off their Halloween event, the update will also chop off 60GB from its 90GB install.
As technology advances, it will be interesting to see how they can adapt to also making improvements like this. The more complex games are, the bigger they get…optimizations are needed!
