TGO Daily | October 14, 2020 | CoD Gets Smaller
I’ve just experienced a crazy coincidence. My partner and I decided to watch a movie called “A Knight’s Tale” starring Heath Ledger. This is the first time I’ve ever even heard of the movie.
Today, a bunch of articles started making references to that movie (you’ll see why soon). On any another day, I would have no clue what they were talking about. I wonder if it means anything.
Have a tremendous day :)

CoD PC players get size reduction options
If you’ve ever played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, you’ll know that the game is absolutely massive. Currently clocking in at 225GB on PC, one of the chief complaints of the game is that it just takes up too much space on the hard drive!
Today, PC users are getting the ability to uninstall specific game modes, in order to free up space. Console users have been able to do this for a while. And hey, if you’d like, you can free up that space to make room for the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta! That will be arriving on Thursday.
Why a game needed to be this massive in the first place, I’ll never know. It’s the largest game on the market — though I suppose that’s something they can get away with when they’re also the best selling game on the market. To be fair, many other AAA experiences are above 100GB in size.
Rockstar acquires Ruffian
It is being reported that Rockstar have acquired Ruffian Games (Crackdown 2) and will be renaming them Rockstar Dundee. While an official press release wasn’t provided, news outlets managed to figure this out through some job postings.
Ruffian Games is most well known for creating Crackdown 2, though they’ve provided a lot of support work for a number of Microsoft titles like The Master Chief Collection.
Beat Saber gets multiplayer
If you’ve ever familiarized yourself with the world of VR, it’s inevitable that you eventually came across a game called Beat Saber. It’s a rhythm game where you use lightsabers to slash blocks heading right toward your face, and it’s the most probably the most popular VR game ever made.
Today, it gets multiplayer. It isn’t extensive — you and five other people can all play the same song at the same time, while keeping track of everyone’s high scores. You can also customize your own avatar for the first time. Every official track in the game is supported, and crossplay is on its way.
It’s not Rock Band, but it’s getting there. Speaking of which, VR could enable friends to get into an actual rock band environment, which would be pretty cool. I need that game.
King Arthur: Knight’s Tale
Here’s a game that I think you should have your eye on: King Arthur: Knight’s Tale. It is particular notable for two reasons: it comes from Hungarian studio NeocoreGames (The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing), and it’s an Arthurian themed XCOM.
They call it a role-playing tactical game, which weaves the turn-based nature of XCOM with more traditional character-centric RPGs. Here’s their blurb:
“The story campaign puts a huge emphasis on moral choices, which have significant consequences in a rogue-lite structure, adding extra tension to the tactical and management decisions.”
A Kickstarter campaign is being launched, though the developers have stated that the game is releasing regardless of its outcome. Their $150,000 goal certainly reflects that. It's slated for a PC release in early 2021, with a plan for a next-gen console release as well. A beta will begin in November.
