Well, I’ve gotten to play plenty more of Pokémon Unite this weekend. I’m still having a blast with the gameplay itself - The Pokémon are all so much fun that I find myself excited to play the entire roster. Suffice it to say, I’m still very much addicted to playing the game.
I’ve been rather frustrated though, because the game doesn’t incentivize you to keep playing it. There are very low weekly caps on all currency (standard microtransaction tactic). I ended up hitting all my weekly caps within a few days of casual play.
At this point, I play the game for maybe 3 ‘quick battles’ (5 minute games) to get my daily rewards and then I’m done. The only reason to play the game beyond your dailies is to rise in ranked play. Even then, the rewards are only at the end of the season and they’re pretty lackluster. Hopefully they’ll change these in their first big patch, but time shall tell.
Until next time,
Brandon
Ariana Grande Concert Coming to Fortnite
Fortnite is hosting an Ariana Grande concert for their next concert series that they’ve dubbed the ‘Rift Tour’. The five show concert series kicks off August 6th at 6PM ET, and shows will run through August 8th. Like with previous concerts, there will be a skin of Ariana (releasing August 4th) and a special umbrella glider if you attend the concert.
This will follow in the wake of previous concerts that were absolute successes. Marshmello’s concert had over 10 million people attend in 2019, and more than 12 million people attended Travis Scott’s concert in 2020. Epic Games has shown with each concert the ability to elevate the experience, so there’s no telling what stops they’ll be pulling out again.
Brandon’s Thoughts: If you had told me back in 2018 that Fortnite would have booming success with concerts in-game, I would’ve busted my spleen laughing so hard. Yet, here we are now with the third major concert coming to the game and nothing but unbelievable successes with the others. Whether you like the game, the concerts, both or neither, it’s great to see two amazing mediums colliding and combining to make this crazy awesome thing that I would’ve never expected in a million years.
Forza Motorsport 7 to be Delisted this Year
Turn 10 Studios announced that Forza Motorsport 7 will be delisted September 15th. Once the game is delisted it, and its DLC, will no longer be purchasable from the Microsoft Store, nor will it be available on Game Pass.
Turn 10 did confirm existing owners of the game will still be able to download and play the game after it has been delisted. Owners will be able to play the game single player and online as well. Eventually we’ll see the online servers close down, as to be expected with older games, but Turn 10 has not announced anything of the sort at this time.
When asked by a fan on Twitter why there were delisting the game, this was their response:
Speedrunner Beats Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Blindfolded
Twitch streamer Mitchriz completed a world first this weekend, beating Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in 4 hours, 35 minutes and 13 seconds - all while blindfolded. Like most blindfold runners, Mitchriz made his way through the game using audio cues to navigate the world and fights.
Mitchriz had his fair share of struggles during the playthrough, but was able to pull through in the fourth hour. The infamous ape fight took him six tries before he was able to finally fell the large beast. He was able to take down the final boss on his second attempt.
He is now currently the record holder for fastest blindfold Shura ending and record holder for fastest “no airswim” Shura ending. He confirmed in a recent stream that he’s now focusing on a more optimized blindfold run. You can check out Part 1 and Part 2 of the run on his stream.
