Do you ever have nostalgia to play a game, but you don’t dare to play it for fear of the nostalgia being ruined? I get that feeling a lot and it’s kept me from going back to older, beloved, games. It’s not a graphics issue that’s the problem for me, but more the idea of the game itself. Two examples of this are Okage: Shadow King and Klonoa 2. You ever heard of or played those? I remember so very little about them, but I remember vividly my emotions while playing them - lots of joy. It makes me want to go back and play them but, on the other hand, I feel this worry in the back of my head that if I don’t enjoy it I’ll be corrupting those feelings of joy that I remember so fondly. Of course I understand that’s an illogical thought, but that doesn’t change how I feel.
So what’s the solution? Well, knowing me, I’ll eventually play them anyways and find the reason I enjoyed them so much and cherish that. It’ll end up being a good experience that I’ll kick myself for not doing earlier, regardless if I even beat them or not. Yet, knowing this is the likely outcome, I’ll still continue to put it off due to illogical worry. Brains, much unlike this introduction, are a funny thing.
I feel I now owe you one random, funny, thought… Look for that in tomorrow’s newsletter intro!
Until next time,
Brandon
Crysis Remastered Trilogy Announced
The Crysis trilogy is now receiving a remaster. The first game was remastered back in 2020 and was received with some lukewarm reception - mostly due to performance and graphical issues. Crytek is moving ahead with the rest of the games in the trilogy, adding Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 to the remaster list. While the trilogy will come in a bundle, you’ll also be able to purchase the games separately. The series is slated for release this Fall on the Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
EA Pulls Several Need for Speed Titles from Digital Stores
With little warning, EA has pulled several Need for Speed titles from digital storefronts. They also announced the online servers for the games will be shut down August 31st, 2021. They are older games in the series and, according to EA, they’re no longer feasible to maintain the servers for. Offline play will still be available for those that do own them. The titles being removed are:
Need for Speed Carbon
Need for Speed Undercover
Need for Speed Shift
Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed
Need for Speed The Run.
Microsoft Announces June Xbox Game Pass games
Microsoft has announced the latest titles to be joining the Xbox Game Pass library for the month of June. They plan to announce more titles at the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda games showcase event, which is scheduled for June 13th, 2021. The games they’ve announced so far are:
The Wild at Heart (Cloud, available June 1st)
For Honor (Cloud, console, available June 3rd)
Backbone (PC, available June 8th)
Darkest Dungeon (Cloud, console, PC, available June 10th)
Editor’s Note: Whether or not you’ve got the Game Pass, you owe it to yourself to check out Darkest Dungeon. It’s a tremendous dungeon-crawling roguelike which, while extremely difficult, is always a pleasure to play. One of the best narrators in video game history!
Tell Me Why Episodes 1-3 Go Free for PC and Xbox
Dontnod, the developer behind the Life is Strange series, has made episodes 1-3 of Tell Me Why free for PC and Xbox players for the month of June. The game tells the story of twins with supernatural powers reuniting for the first time in years.
The game is currently sitting with 85% overall positive reviews on Steam and is definitely worth trying if you’re a fan of Dontnod’s style of games.
Battlefield 6 Reveal Event Coming June 9th

Nintendo Wins $2.1 million USD Lawsuit Against RomUniverse
In September of 2019 Nintendo filed lawsuit against RomUniverse for copyright and trademark infringement. The lawsuit has officially settled with the Court siding with Nintendo and awarding them $2.1 million USD in damages.
In a bizarre move Matthew Storman, the owner of RomUniverse, elected to defend himself instead of hiring a lawyer. The site was used to illegally download copies of games, some of which Storman was making a profit on selling.
