Nier Automata Now Completely Discovered
Two years ago, it was hinted by the developers of Nier: Automata that there was one final secret that had not yet been uncovered. The game’s community toiled over it for a long time, and today the secret was finally discovered. It’s nothing revolutionary, but it turns out there’s a cheat code that was never used before. Here’s the person who did it explaining the process (spoiler-free):
Creator Yoko Taro congratulated them on finding it, and pointed out that it took close to 4 years for it to be uncovered.
The cheat itself can only be used in the game’s prologue, by placing the main character in a very specific spot on the map and inputting a series of button presses. It immediately takes you to the end of the game, unlocking Chapter Select, Debug Mode, the Debug Room, and the Trophy Room. It could come in handy if you want to have open access to the game immediately, but obviously won’t be useful for anyone whose trying to experience it for the first time.
Nier is a pretty cool game. Check it out if you’re looking for a beat-em-up RPG with good characters and a fantastic soundtrack.
Zelda BotW NPCs Are Just Miis
Another insight has been made into a pretty major game. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has a lot of NPCs to worry about, and it looks like the developers used an upgraded character designer based on the Nintendo Miis.
They’ve obviously done a good job making the conversion so that nobody would notice until now, but it also means that modders are putting in their own Miis to pretty amazing success:
There’s some alterations that the devs made, so not every single Mii configuration will work, but it’s pretty cool that its possible nonetheless. I love little sneak peeks into development like this, and I’m looking forward to when the inevitable meme Miis make their appearance in the game.
The Steam Awards 2020
Every year, Valve runs their own fan-voted awards through Steam. Most of them are familiar (“Game of the Year”, “Best Soundtrack”, etc.) and some are more interesting (“Sit Back and Relax” and “Best Game You Suck At”). Here’s the full list:
As you can tell, the awards aren’t limited to 2020 alone. It’s pretty weird to see CS:GO winning “Labor of Love” and Death Stranding getting “Most Innovative Gameplay.” Heck, even the Game of the Year was given to Red Dead Redemption 2, which came out in 2018. Nonetheless, they’re always a fun thing to browse through, so feel free to visit the website and see the other nominees.
They also show off the best selling games every year, among other stats, grouped into non-specific tiers. Feel free to see those — though you probably won’t be surprised by much of it.
Persona Hits Spotify
The original soundtrack for every Persona game from 2 to 5 is going to be fully available on Spotify soon. Here’s the full list:
One of the most revered parts about the Persona franchise is its music, so if you’re into that sort of thing and haven’t played the games, definitely give that a look.
Runescape Turns 20
The hit MMO Runescape officially turns 20 years old today. In its lifetime it has accrued more than 300 million player accounts. What’s more — the game is doing better than ever. They have a record 1.2 million subscribers, alongside all the people playing at the free tier. That success will probably be furthered with their launch on mobile later this year. To celebrate, they’ve got a bunch of in-game events happening, check it out!
