Valheim
It’s the newest game on the block — Valheim continues to be crazy popular. In just under two weeks, the game has been purchased over two million times, with a peak concurrent player count of 360,000 players. That makes it one of the most popular games on Steam right now.
…we have now blown a 700+ year old record by boasting the largest Viking population in all of human history. For reference, the previous peak in Viking numbers was set in 1300 AD and was approximately 500,000.
Two million copies at $20 USD brings that team $40 million in two weeks ($28 million after Steam’s cut). What a fantastic start for an indie game that still has a year to go in Early Access.
Remedy Financials

Remedy Entertainment has had their best financial year ever, despite not releasing any game within that timeframe. They more than doubled their operating profit to €13.2 million. All of that came off the back of Control — they released the Ultimate Edition, and the game became available on Steam, Xbox Game Pass, and streaming services through Switch and Luna.
As for the future, they have a number of projects in the works. They are developing the single-player experience for Smilegate’s CrossfireX, which is an upcoming sequel to one of the most popular video games ever made. They also have a project called Vanguard, which is a co-op live service game that we don’t know anything about. Finally, they have one large and one small game in development with Epic Games, both based on Remedy IP.
Metro Exodus
4A Games, the team behind the Metro series, has officially announced that the PC version of Metro Exodus is going to getting an enhanced edition — alongside the console releases already announced.
PC players will be given a free upgrade to a new version of the game — it won’t be a simple patch. It will reportedly take full advantage of all the ray tracing possibilities, to the point that a ray tracing graphics card will be the minimum spec for playing the game. So you need a beefy computer. It launches “later this spring.”
Console players will also be getting a free upgrade, with current gen consoles running at 4K / 60FPS and with ray tracing. It will also have the ability to alter the FOV for the first time.
Mac and Linux users will also be getting their own versions for the first time later this year.
Overcooked
Overcooked! All You Can Eat is a bundle remastering the first two games and all of their DLC. While it’s currently only released for the Series X and PS5, they announced today that it will arrive everywhere else (PC, Switch, last-gen) on March 23rd.
It’s definitely worth picking this up for the definitive Overcooked experience. It adds online multiplayer to the first game for the first time, and will also introduce cross-play for all content. I highly recommend it if you like a chaotic co-op game.
