Persona 5 Strikers Reviews
The review embargo has lifted early for the English version of Persona 5 Strikers, which will be releasing on February 23rd on the Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.
Strikers takes place after Persona 5, and pretends as if Persona 5 Royal never existed (apparently, I haven’t played any of them). The promise of the game is that it takes the Persona universe and puts it into a Musou-style game, ala Dynasty Warriors or Hyrule Warriors. According to critics, it largely executes on that promise, with “Its structure [being] far closer to action-JRPGs like Kingdom Hearts” (IGN).
I thought this was a good summary from Polygon:
Strikers is both a Musou game and [a] Persona 5 follow-up. It’s a perfect way for fans who love the style of Persona but aren’t interested in slow-moving, turn-based JRPGs to jump in and experience these characters. But it also gives diehard fans a great sequel to something they already love. Because the combat is good, but the Persona is better.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
The newest game in the Ratchet & Clank series, Rift Apart, is going to be releasing on the PlayStation 5 on June 11.
According to the PlayStation blog, pre-orders are now available, along with special editions that you might be interested in picking up. Here’s the relevant blurb about the story:
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a brand-new full-length adventure. When the evil Dr. Nefarious uses a device that can access alternate dimensions to find a galaxy where he always wins, Ratchet and Clank are separated. As they try to reunite, they will meet a new Lombax resistance fighter, explore new and familiar locales (but with new dimensional twists!), and wield a whole new arsenal of out of this world weapons.
If you’ve never played a Ratchet & Clank game before, this is an excellent one to start with as the adventure is a stand-alone storyline, but longtime fans of the series will find deeper layers of connection to previous games.
Excited to see how this one turns out!
New Games to Epic
The Kingdom Hearts series is being ported to PC for the first time as Epic Games Store exclusives. The full list of games include:
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix (a collection of games)
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (a collection of games)
Kingdom Hearts 3
Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory
They’ll all be arriving on March 30th, and will cost anywhere from $50-60 USD. The pricing seems a little silly for generally older games, but it is what it is.
Epic will also be adding Axiom Verge 2 to their lineup, which was originally announced just for the Nintendo Switch. It will have Epic exclusivity for a year, as is usual. It’s apparently “coming soon.”
New Cast in HBO’s The Last Of Us
HBO is currently developing a television adaptation to The Last of Us, and they recently revealed some casting decisions.
Playing the role of Joel will be Pedro Pascal, whose recent claim to fame was the starring role in The Mandalorian. He will be joined by Bella Ramsey in the role of Ellie, who played Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones.
